We support CRY
Sport is a great way to help you keep fit and healthy. It’s
also a fantastic way to raise funds for worthy causes. At Sportive Nation, we’ve done our fair share of sponsored events supporting many good causes, like our London to Paris cycle ride raising money for one of our favourite charities, CRY.
CRY promotes and develops heart screening progra
mmes and funds medical research into young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). There are two very good reasons why we actively support CRY, firstly because these cardiac problems often show up during sporting activities and secondly because we know people who’ve been affected. Many leading sports men and women actively lend their time to supporting this great organisation like Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir Ian Botham, Rob Andrew MBE, and James Cracknell OBE.
Helping to save lives
Every week in the UK at least 12 young people sadly die of undiagnosed heart conditions and CRY’s work is aimed at reducing the frequency of young sudden cardiac death. CRY also supports those people diagnosed with cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD.
CRY publish and distribute medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public and fund fast track services at the CRY Centre for Sports Cardiology, the CRY Centre for Cardiac Pa
thology and the CRY Inherited Cardiovascular Disease Clinic at leading London Hospitals. Additionally, they’ve set up a mobile screening unit which provides screening for school children and young people all over the country with the aim of identifying those at risk and therefore helping to save lives.
